IGMA Artisan

Picture
Pottery, furniture and accessories in miniature by artist and artisan, Jo-Ann
Shaw.  Some of these items are things I made for myself and are not for sale but that isn't to say that I could not make another if someone wanted one.  I do have some other items that are for sale and are pictured here as well.

I have changed my title because as of May 2016, I achieved Artisan status within the International Guild of Miniature Artisans in the field of leather.  It is a title I wear with pride.

My First Mini

Picture
I started building minis very young.  As a child, I would watch my brother build airplanes from balsa wood kits.  Somehow, I had the idea of taking the scrap pieces of balsa wood and building this chair in 1/12 scale.  You can even see the writing still on the wood.  I still have this little piece as a reminder of where I started.

My latest mini.  I had bought a rocking horse kit with the full intention of kitbashing it.  I carved the wood to round off the edges and removed the wood stirrups, ears and part of the tail.  I added  a leather saddle, bridle and ears.  The stirrups are bent wires attached with leather straps.  The mane and tail are mohair and what rocking horse is complete without a little bling, metal studs and rhinestones.
